There’s some hype about this new site called Twitter. I found out about it recently because Suraj was using it. He sent me an email suggesting I join so I thought i’d check it out. It’s actually quite cool!
If you imagine the different types of email you send and receive. Personal, work, funnies etc. So you may have a list of people who only want to receive funny emails. Those who you only communicate with re work and so on. So you have to save their contacts, create a list and then you can send them all a message in one go. Am I right so far?
What happens if they no longer want to receive those emails or their email address changes? You’d need to find them on the list and remove them or set up some sort of subscribe/unsubscribe tool.
With Twitter you can have followers. They add themselves and can remove themselves. You can then follow them if you want to or not. Simple – you send out one message and all your followers receive it.
What’s even better is that you can log in but have different accounts under the same login. So you could have a following for each account. They could be for info about food, jokes and inspirational quotes for example.
It’s also like a mini blog. You can write whatever you want but you’re limited to 140 characters.
You can also use it to update your facebook status automatically.
I’ve linked mine to this blog so it sends a message out as soon as one of my posts is published.
What do you think? Does it sound good?

Thanks for that I didn’t know you could do that – have been creating separate accounts which are a pain to manage.

I’m just a newbie to Twitter so I enjoyed reading your thoughts. It’d be nice to read a follow-up in the coming months and any new changes, etc to Twitter… 🙂
